Frequently Asked Questions

ABOUT BERNEDOODLES

  • What is a Bernedoodle?

A Bernedoodle is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, combining the gentle, loyal temperament of the Bernese with the intelligence and low-shedding coat of the Poodle.

Mini Bernedoodles typically range from 25-45 pounds as adults and live 12-17 years. They’re intelligent, trainable, moderate-energy family dogs.

  • Are Bernedoodles hypoallergenic?

No dog is truly hypoallergenic. However, Bernedoodles with furnishings and curlier coats typically shed very little and may be better for people with mild allergies.
We genetic test for furnishings and can tell you each puppy’s likely shedding level.

  • How much exercise do they need?

Moderate exercise—typically 30-60 minutes daily of walks, play, or activities. Mental stimulation (training, puzzle toys) is just as important as physical exercise.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

  • When will you have puppies available?

Our first litters are expected in 2027. We’re currently selecting foundation dogs and completing all health testing before breeding.

Join our newsletter to be notified when applications open.

  • Why don’t you have dogs yet?

We’re being selective and building our program correctly from the foundation up. We’re evaluating breeders across multiple states, reviewing complete health histories, and ensuring each dog contributes to genetic diversity in our program.

We’d rather take the time to do it right than rush.

  • What health testing do you do?

Every breeding dog completes:

  • OFA clearances (hips, elbows, patellas, cardiac, eyes)
  • Embark genetic testing (200+ conditions)
  • Reproductive health assessments through our veterinary partner

All results will be posted publicly and verifiable through OFA and Embark databases.

THE PUPPY PROCESS

  • How much are your puppies?

We haven’t finalized pricing yet. Pricing will reflect our comprehensive health testing, Puppy Culture protocols, quality breeding stock, and lifetime support. We’ll announce pricing closer to our first litters.

  • How does your waitlist work?

Join our free newsletter to receive notifications when we’re expecting litters. When applications open, approved families place a deposit to secure their position on the waitlist for a specific litter. Pick order is determined by deposit date.
