Building a Bernedoodle Breeding Program the Right Way

Health-tested parents • Genetic diversity first • Puppy Culture protocols • North Texas

More Than Breeders

We’re building a breeding program with family at the center. Our dogs won’t just produce puppies—they’ll be part of our family, raised in our home, loved by our children. Because we know that dogs raised with love produce puppies that thrive in loving homes.

Our Mission

We believe ethical breeding starts with comprehensive health testing, genetic diversity, and transparency. We’re taking the time to select foundation dogs from different bloodlines and complete every recommended health clearance—because your family deserves a healthy, well-adjusted puppy.

What is a Bernedoodle?

Bernedoodles combine the gentle, loyal temperament of the Bernese Mountain Dog with the intelligence and low-shedding coat of the Poodle. They’re friendly, trainable, and make wonderful family companions. Learn why we chose this breed.

    Our Mission

    Building something exceptional takes time.

We’re establishing a mini Bernedoodle breeding program in North Texas with one priority: doing it right.
Most puppy buyers don’t know what questions to ask. Most breeders don’t want you to ask them. We’re different. We believe in complete transparency, comprehensive health testing, and a commitment to genetic diversity that goes beyond what’s convenient or profitable.

    Our Approach:

    • Health testing first: Every breeding dog completes OFA clearances (hips, elbows, patellas, cardiac, eyes) and comprehensive genetic testing through Embark for Breeders—before breeding, not after
    • Genetic diversity by design: We’re using a strategic multi-generational approach with F1 females from separate bloodlines, ensuring lower coefficients of inbreeding and healthier puppies
    • Veterinary partnership: Working with a local Reproductive Vet for reproductive services and health-guided breeding decisions
    • Puppy Culture protocols: Research-backed early neurological stimulation and socialization from day 3-49 that shapes confident, resilient temperaments
    • Education over volume: We’re breeding quality family companions, not maximizing litters

We’re taking 2+ years to build our foundation before our first breeding. That’s intentional. We’re creating a breeding program that will produce healthy, well-adjusted puppies for years to come—not just getting puppies to market as quickly as possible.

    We Believe in Genetic Diversity

Genetic Diversity Produces the Healthiest Puppies

Many breeders repeatedly breed their most successful pairings or keep multiple dogs from the same lines. This concentrates genes—including problematic ones.
We’re building our program differently. We’re acquiring F1 foundation females from completely different breeders across multiple states. Each will be bred to a different Poodle stud. We track coefficients of inbreeding through Embark genetic testing to ensure we’re maximizing diversity, not just chasing colors or repeating convenient pairings.

Why this matters: Greater genetic diversity means healthier puppies with lower risk of inherited diseases, stronger immune systems, and better longevity. The science supports this approach—and so do our ethics.

    What is a Bernedoodle?

Bernedoodles Combine the Best of Both Breeds

Bernedoodles are a cross between the Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle. They truly combine the best traits of both parent breeds:

    From the Bernese Mountain Dog:

    • Gentle, loyal, family-oriented temperament
    • Patient and wonderful with children
    • Calm, steady personality
    • Affectionate and devoted

    From the Poodle:

    • High intelligence and trainability
    • Low to non-shedding coat
    • Playful and energetic
    • Hypoallergenic qualities

Mini Bernedoodles typically range from 25-45 pounds and live 12-17 years. They’re the perfect size for families who want a Bernedoodle temperament in a more manageable package. They’re active enough for adventures but calm enough for apartment living. They’re smart and eager to please, making them highly trainable for first-time dog owners

    Our Guardian Home Program

We Believe in Providing the Best Life Possible for Our Breeding Dogs

Every dog in our breeding program deserves to live as a cherished family pet, not in a kennel or breeding facility.

As our program grows, select dogs will be placed in Guardian Homes—loving families who provide a permanent home for one of our breeding dogs. The dog lives with the Guardian Family full-time as their pet. During breeding, pregnancy, and nursing (approximately 12 weeks per litter), the dog stays with us, then returns home.

After completing their role in our breeding program, we spay or neuter the dog and the Guardian Family keeps them permanently with no further obligations.

    It’s a win-win-win:

    • The dog gets a loving family and doesn’t spend life in a crate
    • We can maintain genetic diversity in our program
    • The Guardian Family receives a high-quality dog at a reduced price

    Guardian Benefits:

    • You receive a breeding-quality dog
    • We cover all breeding-related veterinary expenses
    • Professional reproductive care and support
    • The dog becomes fully yours after breeding is complete

Guardian Families are carefully selected based on their commitment to providing an excellent home, location, lifestyle compatibility, and understanding of the program requirements.
